Q + A

What is the closest airport to Toledo?

Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD) in Madrid, Spain. This airport is about 1 hour away from Toledo, by car. Please make sure you are NOT booking travel to Toledo, Ohio!

How can I get from Madrid to Toledo?

Check out our “travel” tab! We’re hoping to update that page with additional details and options, as the time draws nearer.

Where should I stay?

We’ve provided two recommended hotels on the "Travel" section of our website. We are staying at the Eurostars hotel, and we’ve also provided details for the Beatriz Hotel, which is more affordable and right next door to the Eurostars hotel. But the options are endless, and vary depending on budget and needs! There are a plethora of great AirBNBs in the area, along with more hotels. If you have any struggles or questions – feel free to reach out to Carlos or Taylor!

Should I arrive early or stay late?

It's certainly not necessary, but we'd encourage it! We know that many of you are traveling from afar to join us, and we hope you remember our wedding as an amazing opportunity to experience Spain. We will have pre-wedding event suggestions for the day before our wedding (Saturday), but please also visit the "Things to Do" page for additional suggestions.

Do you have a gift registry?

We do not; we already have plenty of things (in fact, we keep trying to clean out our basement storage...but new sports equipment keeps showing up)! If you'd like to contribute in another way, a donation to our future fund would be wonderful. E-transfer information is below, but old-fashioned paper checks are also welcome. Thank you for your kind consideration, all donations will be used to pay for the cost of our wedding and honeymoon. ********VENMO: @Taylor-Dodson-2************ *******ZELLE: taylormarshalldodson@gmail.com****** *********PAYPAL: taylormarshalldodson@gmail.com ****

Muchas gracias.

Any advice for Americans at their first Spanish wedding?

Two suggestions: (1) Dancing is more fun when you know the music! We've made a special playlist on Spotify with some classic dance songs. Feel free to check it out and get in the mood. (2) Tapas are amazing, but pace yourself before the meal!

What should I wear?

For a "day wedding," most folks wear semi formal attire, your Sunday best! For men, that's usually a suit and tie (Carlos will be in a formal Spanish suit, with coattails!). For women, typically a bright maxi or midi-length dress or formal pants -- and you may see hats and fascinators! Avoid wearing black or white, and as a reminder, the ceremony will be held in a 14th century Catholic Church, so most women bring a shawl or scarf (if not already wearing sleeves). If you're unsure about anything - text Taylor! She can give you a vote of confidence, send you example photos from Spanish weddings that she's attended, and/or give you websites with examples of typical outfits.

Do I need a visa to travel to Spain from the US?

No; at this time, no visa or additional documentation (other than a valid passport) is needed. There have been proposed changes to this process, so we will keep our guests informed if this changes!

How long does my passport need to be valid for?

Your passport must be valid until at least three months after your planned departure from Europe. So, if you’re flying back to the US on May 26 (the day after the wedding), your passport must be valid through August 26, 2025.
